Who this page is for

Who specifies these systems

Residential storage is bought by people who have to commission it, warrant it and answer the phone afterwards. This page is written for them.
Buyer / 01

Solar installers

Battery selection driven by the inverter already on the design and by what fits through the door of the installation space.
Buyer / 02

Energy brands and retailers

A storage line released under your own brand, with the enclosure, app and documentation matched to your market positioning.
Buyer / 03

Distributors and wholesalers

A coherent capacity ladder across formats so a single stock plan serves apartments through to large villas.
Format selection

Form factor is an installation decision before it is a product decision

Capacity is easy to change at quotation stage. Physical format is not — it determines wall loading, floor loading, lift access, service clearance and whether the unit can legally sit where the customer wants it. Decide format first, then size.
FormatTypical unit sizeBest where
Wall-mounted5.12 – 10.24 kWhGarage or utility wall, limited floor area
Stackable2.5 – 5 kWh per moduleCapacity grows over time, tight footprint
Floor-standing cabinet16 – 35 kWhPlant room, villa, light commercial
Rack-mounted5 – 15 kWh per shelfExisting 19-inch rack, telecom-style install
All-in-one10 kWh + 5 kW inverterSingle-box retrofit, no separate inverter
Recommended platforms

Platforms specified for residential storage

All share the 51.2 V bus, CAN and RS485 communication, and cycle life quoted with the temperature and depth of discharge it was measured at.
Platform / 01

LD floor-standing cabinets

Three single-enclosure capacities for villa, plant-room and light-commercial installs where one cabinet beats several wall units.
Platform / 02

Wall, stack and rack systems

The volume formats for retrofit and new-build residential, sized from 5.12 kWh to 20.48 kWh per unit.
Platform / 03

All-in-one battery and inverter

10 kWh storage with a 5 kW pure sine-wave inverter in one enclosure, for retrofits where a separate inverter is not wanted.
Engineering decision points

What decides whether commissioning goes smoothly

Most residential storage problems are not battery failures. They are protocol mismatches, access problems and rating mismatches that were settled too late.
01

Inverter model and firmware, not brand

Brand-level compatibility is not enough. Protocol and firmware vary by model within the same brand. Send the exact model and firmware version and we confirm the CAN setting before shipment.
02

Indoor rating versus installation position

Floor-standing cabinets are rated IP20 — indoor only, dry and ventilated. An outdoor or carport install on an indoor rating voids the warranty and creates a real safety risk.
03

Parallel count and current sharing

Up to 15 units are supported. Beyond two or three, confirm busbar and cable sizing, protection coordination and address settings for the specific project rather than assuming symmetry.
04

Cycle life against the tariff

At one cycle per day a 6,000-cycle rating outruns the calendar life of the hardware. At two cycles per day it becomes the binding constraint. Match the specification to the tariff, not to the headline.
05

Access, floor loading and handling

A 35 kWh cabinet is over 250 kg gross. Confirm door widths, lift access, stair turns and floor loading before delivery is scheduled, not on the day.
06

Certification scope for the market

EU, UK, Australia and North America each have different mandatory schemes. Confirm which certificates name the exact model before listing or importing.
Selection guide

Sizing from consumption and tariff, not from roof size

Start with evening and overnight consumption — the energy the battery actually has to cover — then check whether the tariff supports one or two cycles per day.
Household profileEvening + overnight useSuggested capacity
Apartment, no solar, tariff shifting only2 – 4 kWh5 kWh
Small house with rooftop solar4 – 7 kWh10 kWh
Family house, solar plus EV overnight8 – 14 kWh15 – 20 kWh
Large villa, whole-home backup15 – 25 kWh20 – 35 kWh
Off-grid house, multi-day autonomy10 – 20 kWh per day35 kWh and above, paralleled
Light commercial, evening peak cover20 – 40 kWh35 kWh, two or more units
Starting points only. Send the load profile, inverter model, tariff structure, cycles per day and ambient temperature range for a sized proposal.
Compliance for this application

What a residential installation typically needs

Residential storage carries both transport documentation and market-access requirements, and the second one is where projects stall. Confirm the mandatory scheme for your market before committing to stock.
OEM / ODM scope

What can be configured for a residential storage line

Define the scope before sample production. Enclosure and app decisions in particular are expensive to revisit after tooling.
Buyer questions

Technical and purchasing questions

For a project-specific answer, send the inverter model and the load profile.

Mainstream hybrid brands including Deye, Solis, GoodWe, Growatt, Sofar and SMA over CAN, RS485 or RS232. Protocol selection is model-specific, so send the exact inverter model and firmware version and we confirm the setting rather than asking you to work through the menu on site.

Up to 15 for the 51.2 V platforms, and 1 to 9 for the all-in-one system. Beyond a small number of units, confirm total current, busbar and cable sizing, protection coordination and address settings for the specific project.

It is specified at 25 °C ambient and 80 % depth of discharge. Those conditions are part of the specification, not a footnote. A cycle figure quoted without a temperature and a depth of discharge cannot be compared with it.

The floor-standing cabinets are rated IP20 and are for indoor installation in a dry, ventilated space. For outdoor projects, tell us the site conditions at quotation and we will advise on an alternative rather than let an indoor-rated unit go outside.

Wall-mounted for garage and utility walls with limited floor area, stackable where capacity grows over time, floor-standing for villa and plant-room installs, rack where a 19-inch rack already exists. Format is an installation constraint; decide it before capacity.

It depends on the destination. EU placement needs a CE Declaration of Conformity; North American permitted installs frequently require UL 1973 and UL 9540 listing; the Australian residential channel effectively requires CEC listing. Tell us the market and we will confirm what we hold and what we do not.
